The flour mill of Beniure
A hydraulic mill, built in stone, dating from the late 19th century

Beniure’s flour mill, owned by Casa Moliner, is located to the left side of the ravine of Sant Esteve de la Sarga, to the south of the village at 15 minutes walking distance from the house.
It is a hydraulic mill, built in stone, from the late nineteenth century. The small dam, the hydraulic wheel, the building itself as well as much of the original machinery inside (stone wheels with different designs, hopper, and axis) have been preserved.
This mill was key during the Civil War as it allowed the families of the area (including those from the Àger Valley) to produce flour from grain spared for their own consumption when those were officially rationed. The families made long walks at night with the grain until the Casa Moliner of Beniure, returning home with the produced flour.
The Mill is also located on one of the routes of the Saint George’s road (Catalan leg of the Santiago’s Road), the GR-1.4, that crosses the municipality from end to end arriving at the Mont Rebei Gorge.
